want to be in in the heart of the San Marco shopping and sightseeing
district, and you're willing to pay for a luxury hotel.
The Bauer has two adjoining properties in San Marco:
Hotel Bauer
(a.k.a. "Bauers L'Hotel") is a large, upscale hotel with an entrance on
the Campo San Moisè, slightly west of the Piazza San Marco. It has 91
rooms, 18 suites, a gourmet restaurant, a bar-night club, and a
bar-restaurant on the Grand Canal that features an outdoor terrace
during the summer months.
 Bauer
Il Palazzo is a notch up the luxury and price scale. It's housed
in an 18th Century Venetian
palazzo on the Grand Canal, and it has 44 large rooms plus 38
suites--some with canal views. It also has a top-floor bar-lounge
overlooking St. Mark's Basin where breakfast is served in warm weather.
The Bauers are close to the San Marco vaporetto and airport-bus
stop, and water taxis can bring you directly to the hotels'
private dock. You can also hire gondolas next to the hotel entrance,
where
a footbridge crosses the San Moisè Canal.

In the first photo, Bauer Il Palazzo is at the lower
left corner, with the Hotel Bauer's bar-restaurant terrace
alongside. (The Hotel Bauer itself is just behind Il Palazzo.)
Slightly to the right is the San Marco vaporetto and airport-boat
station. The Piazza San Marco is behind the former Royal Gardens,
and St. Mark's Basilica is in the top right corner of the frame.

the Bauer Hotel and Bauer Il Palazzo at lower left. From the main
hotel entrance on the Campo San Moisè (by the church), it's a short
walk to either the vaporetto and airport-boat stop or the
Piazza San Marco. Venice's top designer boutiques are also close by.
