Sarah Sun Island
Category:
B&B (moored yacht).
Location: On the island of La
Giudecca, across from the San Basilio cruise pier.
Closest
Alilaguna Airport Boat
stop: Giudecca.
Convenient when:
You'd like to cruise from Venice without leaving the pier.
Sarah Sun Island is a bed-and-breakfast on board a yacht--the
Sarah Sun--that is permanently moored at a dock on Sacco Fisola, a
small island next to La Giudecca that has its own
ACTV waterbus
stop.
(For all practical purposes, Sacco Fisola is part of Giudecca;
it's attached to the larger island by a small bridge, and you can reach
both the
Alilaguna airport boat's
landing by the Hilton Molino Stucky
on foot.)
Like its upscale hotel neighbor, the Sarah Sun requires a short
boat ride to reach Venice's historic center, and its cabins are smaller
than the rooms you'd find in a typical hotel or guesthouse. Still, if
you're the sort of person who spends a lot of time in a cabin cruiser
and dreams of living on a millionaire's yacht, the Sarah Sun
Island could offer a pleasant break from the world of
landlubbers--especially during Venice's busy months from spring through
early fall. Compare rates:

-
In the first image, the island of Sacco Fisola is in
the lower left corner of the frame, with the larger island of La
Giudecca connected to it by a bridge. The San Basilio cruise
terminal is directly across the Giudecca ship canal. (Look for the
long building with the pink tiled roof alongside the water.)
-
In the second photo, you can see the yacht Sarah
Sun moored on Sacco Fisola (the island at lower left).
The ACTV vaporetto stop is to the left, outside of the
frame. The building at lower right with the rooftop pool and green
copper-sheathed cupola is the Hilton Molino Stucky.
