When Venice was an independent republic, this 17th Century villa served as the Russian Embassy. In the 1950s, it was the hotel where Katherine Hepburn's character stayed in the movie Summertime.

Today, the Pensione Accademia Villa Maravege is popular with Americans and others who appreciate its genteel, old-fashioned atmosphere and its lovely garden.
