Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort and private garden

Ca' Nigra tables by Grand CanalThe four-star Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort is one of three noteworthy hotels on the Campo San Simeon Grande (a.k.a. the Campo San Simeon Profeta).

The hotel's large private garden faces the Grand Canal, with outdoor tables alongside the water.

From the train station, Ca' Nigra is only a five-minute walk--or maybe seven to eight minutes, if you walk more slowly than we do.

How to reach the Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort from Santa Lucia Railroad Station:

Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort map directions

  1. Leave the station by the front steps, or by the easy-to-miss (and stair-free) side exit if you have rolling luggage, a stroller, or a wheelchair.

  2. Turn left and walk a few meters to the Scalzi Bridge, which arches over the Grand Canal just to the left of the station.

  3. Cross the Scalzi Bridge and continue straight ahead, past the Burger King and down a narrow street.

  4. Turn left at the next corner.

  5. Continue to the low bridge up ahead, cross it, and walk to the church of San Simeone Profeta.

  6. Bear left and continue around the church.

  7. You'll enter a short arcaded passage that leads into the Campo San Simeon Grande. The Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort is a red building on the left side of the square, behind a garden wall.

From the Piazzale Roma:

This walk takes about 10 minutes, or a bit longer if you're not in a hurry:

Note: Alternatively, you can cross the Calatrava Bridge (Ponte della Costituzione) from the Piazzale Roma, walk a few meters to the train station, and follow our directions from the railroad station.

We suggest following the directions above instead, because the Scalzi Bridge by the train station is higher and has more steps than the low bridges on our recommended route.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take a free shuttle bus (if available), a taxi, or the People Mover elevated tramway to the Piazzale Roma. (The glass-walled People Mover station is just outside the port entrance.)

  2. Follow the directions from the Piazzale Roma above.
