After leaving the Urartu carpet showroom, we headed west from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque until we reached Istanbul's Grand Bazaar, which is said to the oldest and largest covered marketplace in the world. The mazelike building has 60 corridors and more than 3,000 shops that sell clothing, shoes, household goods, jewelry, Turkish handicrafts, and other items.
