The Giudecca Canal ends at Punta della Dogana, where the Dogana di Mare (the Venetian Republic's old customs house) stands at the junction of the Grand Canal, the Giudecca Canal, and St. Mark's Basin.

As they leave the Giudecca Canal, ships--including the MSC Poesia, from which this photo was taken--turn and follow the Canale di San Marco's deepwater shipping channel into the Venetian Lagoon.
