L is a small island across from Sant'Erasmo, in the Venetian Lagoon. In the 1500s, it served as a quarantine island for ships arriving in Venice, where crews and passengers were detained and watched for signs of plague.
You can explore Lazzaretto Nuovo if you're curious about Venetian history. You'll find exhibits with Italian captions in the Tezon Grande warehouse and other buildings.

Lazzaretto Nuovo is a request stop, so tell the sailor "Lazzaretto Nuovo" when you board. For the return trip, turn on the signal light by the ACTV pontile or platform so the boat's captain will stop and pick you up.
