The Hotel Al Codega has what may be one of the romantic settings in Venice: The Al Codega is located on a quiet, hidden courtyard with a private wellhead, only a few minutes on foot from the Rialto Bridge and the Piazza San Marco.
(In the photo above, the Hotel Al Codega is the yellow building facing the camera.)
The hotel has 28 rooms and suites--all with free Wi-Fi--and a bar. Pets stay free, so why leave Fido or Fluffy at home?
As you leave pontoon A at Rialto (the Alilaguna boat stop), walk straight ahead into the Calle Bembo, which faces the ticket booth.
At the first cross street, Calle del Teatro, turn right.
Go straight ahead past the Goldoni Theatre. You'll come to a Guess store. Turn left at Guess into Calle del Forno and continue into Campo San Luca.
An H&M store will be straight ahead, facing you. Go into the Calle dei Fuseri, which is to the right of H&M.
Continue about halfway way down the Calle dei Fuseri. Look for an unmarked sotoportego or covered passage on your left just after a shop with the building number 4457.
Turn left into the covered passage and walk a few meters to the Sotoportego del Forno Vecchio, another covered passage that will be on your left.
Turn into the passage, and you'll see the Hotel Al Codega in a pretty little square just ahead of you.
