The comfortable three-star Hotel Arlecchino is popular with cruisers (the Marittima piers aren't far), and we've found it convenient for getting to the Piazzale Roma's airport buses in time to catch early-morning flights from Marco Polo Airport.
The hotel is just a minute or two from the Piazzale Roma, with one small bridge to cross.
Walk toward the tree-lined side of the Piazzale Roma. Continue through the trees to the water.
Turn right onto the fondamenta or sidewalk along the canal.
A few meters ahead, you'll see a food kiosk immediately before the Tre Ponti (three bridges). Bearing left to stay by the main canal, walk past the food kiosk to the bridge.
Cross the bridge and immediately turn right. Walk a short distance along the canal to the hotel's entrance, which is tucked into a tiny cross street. (The Arlecchino's slightly fancier sister hotel, the Best Western Olimpia, is just beyond.)

As you leave the train station, turn right and follow the crowd toward the modern Calatrava Bridge.
Cross the Calatrava Bridge--officially named the "Ponte della Costituzione"--to the Piazzale Roma, then follow the directions above.
Take the People Mover elevated tram to the Piazzale Roma. (The glass-enclosed station is just outside the port entrance.)
Once you're in the Piazzale Roma, follow the directions above.
