The three-star Hotel il Mercante di Venezia (in English, "The Merchant of Venice Hotel") is less than a five-minute walk from the train station and another two or three minutes from airport buses and taxis in the Piazzale Roma.
When you reach the wide fondamenta or pavement in front of the station, turn left.
Walk past the Scalzi Church and the Scalzi Bridge toward the Lista di Spagna (a busy pedestrian thoroughfare).
Continue on the Lista di Spagna and walk to the Calle Misericordia, which will be on your left. (The steet is easy to miss, so look for an old white mosaic sign for "Albergo Santa Lucia" on the pavement next to the entrance to the calle.)
Turn left into the Calle della Misericordia. The Mercante di Venezia is up the narrow street, on the left side. Thje entrance to the hotel is in a doorway just beyond the hanging sign.
Look for the Calatrava Bridge (a.k.a. the Ponte della Costituzione). It's the large modern bridge at the northeast corner of the square, next to the Hotel Santa Chiara.
Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead, past the large building on your left, to the train station.
From the station, follow the directions above.
Take a shuttle bus, a taxi, or the People Mover to the Piazzale Roma.
