Sea Cloud Cruises

From European Cruise Guide

See all ocean and river cruise lines

Sea Cloud Cruises is an ultra-luxury line with two sailing vessels: the Sea Cloud, a four-masted barque that was built in 1931 for financier E.F. Hutton and his wife, the cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post; and the Sea Cloud II, a modern square-rigger in the classic windjammer tradition. Both vessels are true sailing ships with manually set rigging. A third and larger sailing ship, the Sea Hussar, will enter service in fall, 2010.

Itineraries:

Sea Cloud is cruising in the Mediterranean in 2010. Its calendar begins in late April with a roundtrip voyage from Nice, wrapping up in late October with a cruise from Valetta, Malta to Cádiz.

Sea Cloud II starts its European season with a cruise between Funchal, Madeira and Lisbon in April. It will then cruise for a few weeks in the Mediterranean before heading north to the Baltic and Scandinavia, returning to Southern Europe for a series of Mediterranean cruises. Sea Cloud II will leave Valencia for Casablanca on its way to the Caribbean in late November.

Sea Cloud Cruises also operates two river vessels, the River Cloud and River Cloud II. The company is based in Hamburg, Germany and has an office in the United States, where it has attracted a following among wealthy sailing enthusiasts. (A majority of the company's passengers are American, and service staff are fluent in English.)
