Maratea Superiore ruins

Maratea Superiore

The village of Maratea Superiore lies 633 meters or 2,077 feet above sea level on Monte San Biago, just below the Statua del Redentore or Christ Statue. It was built high on the mountainside for protection against invaders. Some of its ruined buildings may be more than a thousand years old.
