• Update: Peter Deilman Reederei is out of business, and the Deutschland has been sold. At last report, it was owned by anther German company, Phoenix Reisen, that caters to German-speaking travelers.

Peter Deilmann Cruises operates a single oceangoing cruise ship, MS Deutschland, which recreates the atmosphere of classic transatlantic liners with its Edwardian "Grand Hotel" decor. The ship carries 513 passengers in staterooms that range from inside single cabins to a pair of veranda suites.

In the past, Peter Deilmann marketed some of its cruises to English-speaking travelers, but these days it focuses exclusively on the German-speaking market.

Trivia note: Since 1999, the Deutschland has played a starring role in Das Traumschiff, a long-running German TV series that might be described as an upmarket version of The Love Boat. (For a while, the series logo was even painted on the ship's stack.)
