Wash 'n' Web

Venice laundromat and Internet point photo

ABOVE: Start your laundry in the storefront on the left, then step next door to check your e-mail.

You've marveled at the Basilica, you've toured the Doge's Palace, and you've taken the obligatory vaporetto ride up the Grand Canal. You have a couple of hours to kill before the next round of churches and museums. What should you do: Find a laundromat so you won't have to wear dirty clothes for the rest of the week, or look for an Internet point so you can learn whether you still have a family, a home, and a job?

Not to worry: Thanks to Speedy Wash and Planet Internet, you can soak your clothes and surf the Net at the same time.

The Speedy Wash "Laundry Self-Service" has washing machines in two sizes, 8Kg and 16Kg, plus large washers. Detergent is available on the premises.

Next door, at Planet Internet, you can rent a computer terminal and check your e-mail or plan the remainder of your trip on the Web while your clothes get clean.

Self-service laundry photoSpeedy Wash and Planet Internet are in Cannaregio, within easy walking distance of the railroad station. As you leave the station, turn left and follow the main pedestrian route. Keep going until you've crossed the Ponte delle Guglie, the bridge over the Cannaregio Canal. (See photo.) Continue straight ahead on the Rio terrà S. Leonardo until you see the "Self Laundry" sign.
