The Ludwig II Musical
Continued from page 5: How to get there

photo

ABOVE: The Musical Theater Neuschwanstein's glass walls offer panoramic vistas of the lake, mountains, and countryside.

Update: The musical, Ludwig II: Longing for Paradise, is no longer running. The Festspielhaus in Füssen in Allgäu now stages operas and other productions and continues to offer gastronomy at various price levels in the theatre's restaurants.

Tickets to the show

To order tickets, visit the official Ludwig II Musical Web site. Click "Tickets Online," and you'll find links to two ticket agencies. If the agencies' German-language listings and forms are too confusing, translate with AltaVista or--better yet--call the theatre's Ticket Hotline at the phone number on the Web site. The ticketing staff also can help you book a hotel room in Füssen if you'd like to spend the night.

Another possibility is to buy tickets through your hotel concierge or in person at the theatre box office, although tickets may be in short supply during high season or on weekends. (When I attended the musical on a Friday evening in late September, the theatre was packed.)

Finally, if you live in North America, you can obtain tickets from:

Peek Marketing Alliance, Inc. (headquarters)
315 Tenth Avenue North, Suite 93
Nashville, TN 37203
Phone (615) 843-1470
Fax (615) 843-7485

Peek Marketing Alliance, Inc. (New York office)
Chanin Building, 52nd Floor
122 East 42nd Street
New York, NY 10168-0072
Phone (212) 972-0001
Fax (212) 972-8428

TIPS:

  • If you're staying in Munich, see my "How to get there" page for information on a convenient Autobus Oberbayern package that includes transportation and theatre tickets.

  • The theatre is wheelchair-accessible and has eight wheelchair spaces in the auditorium.
