Freiburg Tourist InformationFrom: Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
ABOVE: Rabbits inhabit a nursery-school playground in the Wiehre quarter. Local tourist officesThe main office of FWTM (Freiburg's tourist office) is at Rathausplatz 2-4 in the Altstadt. Go there to obtain maps and local guidebooks, to book sightseeing tours, or to get answers to questions about the city. For last-minute hotel reservations, or to book a package in the city or the Black Forest region, visit Freiburg Incoming Touristik, Am Bischofskreuz 1. (The Web site was in German only the last time I checked, but the office staff should be able to help you in English.) Need a map? See the excellent Stadtplan Freiburg im Breisgau at hot-maps.com. The map's default view shows the railroad station and the Altstadt. Click the circle to activate the zooming and repositioning control, then click your cursor on any section of the map for a better view. Other tourism resourcesHistoric Highlights of Germany, a consortium of 13 German cities known for their architectural interest and charm, has a well-written section on "Freiburg, the Black Forest Sunshine City." TMBW, the tourist office for the state of Baden-Württemberg, provides information on the "German Southwest," including areas within easy reach of Freiburg im Breisgau. So does the Web site of Black Forest Tourism. For more links, see my Freiburg Day Trips and Excursions page. Accessible travel: Freiburg für Alle has listings of hotels, restaurants, public toilets, etc. that are accessible to persons of limited mobility. (Unfortunately, the text is only in German.)
