The
Kosher House Giardino dei Melograni is a 14-room inn
that overlooks the Campo del Ghetto Nuovo in Europe's oldest ghetto (see our
illustrated article). Although it
caters to a traditional Jewish audience with its kosher restaurant and mikveh
baths, visitors of any background are welcome.
How to reach the Kosher House Giardino dei Melograni
from the Guglie airport-boat stop:

As you leave the boat platform, turn right and walk a few
meters to the Gam Gam restaurant, where you'll see a passage that leads to
the Jewish Ghetto.

Go through the passage and walk straight ahead (with the
occasional jog) past the Majer bakery and over a small bridge.

After crossing the bridge, you'll be in the Campo del Ghetto
Nuovo. The Kosher House Giardino dei Melograni is up ahead, along the
northwestern side of the square.
From the Santa Lucia Railroad Station:
(Tip: Drag the map up and to the
right for a better view of the walking route from the station.)

Leave the railroad station by the marble steps outside the main doors, or by the easy-to-miss
(and conveniently stair-free)
side exit if you have rolling luggage, a stroller, or a wheelchair.

When you reach the wide fondamenta or pavement in
front of the station, turn left.

Walk past the Scalzi Church and the Scalzi Bridge toward the
Lista di Spagna (a busy pedestrian thoroughfare).

Continue down the Lista di Spagna and through the Camp San
Geremia to the Ponte delle Guglie, a stone bridge that arches over the
Cannaregio Canal.

Cross the bridge and immediately turn left.

Walk until you reach the passage to the Ghetto, which is
just before the Gam Gam restaurant.

Go through the passage and walk straight ahead (with the
occasional jog) past the Majer bakery to a small bridge.

Cross the bridge, which leads into the Campo del Ghetto
Nuovo. The the Kosher House Giardino dei Melograni will be almost directly
ahead of you, on the northwestern side of the square.
