PhotosFrom: Garmisch-Partenkirchen ZugspitzeMany weddings take place in Germany's highest-altitude church, the Mariä Himmelfahrt Chapel, which also has Sunday services. The Roman Catholic chapel, which overlooks a glacier, is a short walk from the Zugspitzplatt cogwheel-railway station and the Sonn Alpin restaurant. (Note to prospective brides and grooms: A wedding on the Zugspitze is a two-step process. First you have a civil wedding in the Sonn Alpin's registry office; you then go to the chapel for a religious ceremony. If you're from overseas, it may be easier to have a civil wedding at home and only the religious ceremony on the mountain.)
