The hilltop Nôtre Dame de Fouvrière Basilica and the Tour Metallique are floodlit after dark. Lyon is famous for its night illuminations. More than 150 buildings and monuments are lit in both traditional and imaginative ways--in some cases, with light projectors that create abstract patterns or the illusion of fireworks.
