The Tent
(Kapuzinerhölzl)
Looking for a different experience in the summer months or during Oktoberfest? From the railway station, travel 13 minutes
by U-Bahn to the Botanischer Garten stop and sleep in a huge tent with other
backpackers. (Or you can bring your own tent and still enjoy the new toilets,
showers, and self-service laundry facilities.)
Camping
München
Thalkirchen Camping Ground
This campground is in a conservation and recreation area, about 20 minutes from
central Munich by U-Bahn and bus. RV/caravan hookups are available, and the
campground is open from March 15 until October 31. (Note: More campgrounds are
listed at the bottom of Thalkirchen Camping Ground's Web page.)
Wies'n-Camp
During Oktoberfest, you can save money by renting a tent at the Olympic Horse
Stadium--but you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag.
