Munich four-star hotels

Atrium
A courtyard garden is an unexpected bonus at this centrally located Best Western affiliate, which also has a sauna and solarium. The main railroad station is only 300 meters away.

Cristal
The 100-room Hotel Cristal is on the western edge of the city center, very close to the Hauptbahnhof (main railroad station) and the Oktoberfest grounds. Parking is available in an underground garage.

Erzgiesserei Europe
This modern outpost of the TOP hotel chain is five minutes from the Hauptbahnhof and the downtown shopping district by U-Bahn.

InterCityHotel München
This hotel belongs to Germany's InterCityHotel group, which operates moderately-priced, comfortable hotels for railroad travelers. It's located at the Munich Hauptbahnhof, or central train station. (Note: InterCityHotel's user-hostile Web site requires you to select a city--"München"--from a list instead of going directly to the hotel's page.)

Platzl Hotel München
The Plazl's Bavarian-style Pfistermühle restaurant occupies a 16th Century mill, and the building is reminiscent of a vintage German postcard. Not suprisingly, it's located in the Altstadt--just a few weaving steps away from the Hofbräuhaus beer hall.
