Dresden Neumarkt

f/2.0, 1/50 sec, ISO 80

Dresden's Frauenkirche peeks around a row of shops in this evening view of the Neumarkt, which was taken at a 16:9 aspect ratio because the slider switch on the lens barrel got knocked out of place inside my jacket. (A piece of tape would solve that problem, but it would be even better if Panasonic would dump the aspect-ratio switch and build the 4:3, 3:2, and 16:9 settings into the menus.)

When you look at the the 10-Megapixel version of this shot, you can read the lettering on the shops in the foreground, and you can see (if not quite read) the lettering on the blue "Neumarkt" sign on the corner of the building with the illuminated display windows.

You may have noticed by now that, in tricky situations, the LX3 tends to err on the side of underexposure, which provides a safety cushion to minimize blown highlights and easy to correct with editing software.
