Mittermaier Restaurant and HotelRothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany
The Villa Mittermaier Restaurant and Hotel's name puts the word "restaurant" up front, and justifably so: Even if you don't stay here, the Mittermaier is well worth a trip just to enjoy the "Franconian freestyle" cuisine that Ulrike and Christian Mittermeier offer in their cheerfully appointed dining room. Prices aren't cheap, and a multicourse dinner can add up to more than €100 per person with wine. Still, if you can afford the tab, we recommend booking a table. If you plan to dine at the Mittermaier, you might want to book a room at the same time. The hotel's 27 rooms are furnished in a light, imaginative style that blends tradition with modernity. Rates--which include a buffet breakfast--are quite reasonable for a hotel of this quality. You can view photos of the Mittermaier's rooms and suites on the hotel Web site (see link below). Two good choices for well-heeled honeymooners are rooms 71 and 72, which are large with a freestanding tub, shower, and double sink located in the open for convenient ogling. (The WC, however, is hidden in a little room of its own.) For more information, see:
