The one-star Hotel Galleria is in a remarkable setting for a hotel of its category: Its entrance faces the Gallerie dell'Acaddemia, the city's leading museum of Venetian art, and some of its nine rooms overlook the Grand Canal. The Accademia Bridge to San Marco is just a few meters away.

The Hotel Galleria has attractively-furnished singles, doubles, twins, and quads, some with private facilities and others with shared bathrooms. There's no air conditioning, but you won't miss it if you're visiting outside the summer months.

How to reach the Hotel Galleria from the Zattere airport-boat stop:

1. As you leave the Alilaguna Linea Blu airport boat's floating pier at Zattere, head for the Rio Terà Antonio Foscarini, which is a wide tree-lined street that heads inland from the Zattere waterfront.

2. Walk straight ahead, past the Hotel Belle Arti and the Hotel Agli Alboretti. As you approach the Grand Canal, you'll see a hanging sign for the Hotel Galleria on the right side of the street.

From the San Basilio cruise terminal:

1. Exit the cruise terminal via the main doors and walk straight ahead to the wooden bridge.

2. Cross the bridge and continue walking along the Zattere, which is the wide pedestrian promenade next to the Giudecca Canal.

3. After five minutes or so, you'll reach a stone bridge, the Ponte Lungo. Cross the bridge and keep walking past two churches.

4. Turn left just after the second church (the Gesuati). Walk inland on the Rio Terà Antonio Foscarini, which is a wide tree-lined street that heads inland from the Zattere waterfront.

5. Walk down the street, past the Hotel Belle Arti and the Hotel Agli Alboretti. As you approach the Grand Canal, you'll see the Hotel Galleria's hanging sign on the right side of the street.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

1. Take the Alilaguna Blue Line airport boat to the Zattere stop, which is the second stop from the cruise basin. (The fare will be about half of the fare to the airport.)

2. Follow the directions from the Zattere airport-boat stop above.
