Hotels near the railroad station

ABOVE: The Hotel Principe is a short walk from Venezia Santa Lucia Railroad Station. This photo shows the sign above the street entrance. (The other side of the hotel faces the Grand Canal.)

Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station is a popular gateway to Venice's historic center. It's a terminus station served by long-distance trains and by commuter trains from Mestre and other locations on the Venetian mainland.

Many hotels are within an easy, level walk of the station. (Tip: If you have rolling luggage, a stroller, or a wheelchair, use the side entrance next to Track 1, which we show on our hotel walking maps.)

These hotels are to your left, with no bridges to cross, as you leave the station. Some are on the main pedestrian thoroughfare, while others are in quiet side streets:

These are across the Grand Canal via the Ponte degli Scalzi, the large stone bridge to the left of the station:

Two more hotels are along the station side of the Cannaregio Canal, which you'll reach if you keep walking east of the railroad station via the main pedestrian thoroughfare. (They're even more convenient to the Alilaguna Orange Line airport-boat stop at Guglie, but you can walk to them easily from the train station.)

Hotels just beyond the Cannaregio Canal can also be convenient if you don't mind crossing one low bridge, the Ponte delle Guglie. All of these hotels are near the Guglie airport-boat stop, which is no more than 10 minutes from the railroad station on foot:

Finally, any hotel near the Piazzale Roma is also easy to reach from the railroad station if you don't mind crossing a bridge or two. For recommendations with walking directions and maps, see our Hotels near the Piazzale Roma page.
