Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal

The four-star Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal is an upscale 100-room hotel just west of the Piazza San Marco. It's one of the few hotels in Venice with wheelchair-accessible rooms (six in all).

How to reach the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal from the Alilaguna airport-boat stop at San Marco Giardinetti:

Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal map directions

  1. As you leave the boat station, turn left and cross a small stone bridge.

Note: If you're in a wheelchair, you can avoid the small bridge mentioned above by taking a longer route through the Piazza San Marco. Here's how:

  1. As you leave the boat platform, turn right and walk along the water. (Souvenir kiosks and a small public garden will be on your left.) You'll cross a low metal ramp over a canal.

  2. At the Piazzetta (a large open space with two stone columns), turn left and walk into the Piazza San Marco.

  3. You'll need to bump or climb up a few steps into the arcades along the south side of the square (the side next to the brick bell tower or campanile).

  4. Go straight ahead under the arcades to the southwestern corner of the square, where a passage leads into a street.

  5. Continue one short block and turn left into the Calle Vallaresso. The hotel's wheelchair-friendly entrance is on the right side of the street.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take the Alilaguna Blue Line airport boat from the cruise basin to the San Giardinetti stop and follow the directions above.
