Hotel Orion breakfast room

The three-star Hotel Orion is a few short blocks north of the Piazza San Marco, on the way to the Rialto Bridge.

Like many smaller hotels in Venice, the Orion doesn't have an elevator (which can be good or bad, depending on your exercise needs or your knees).

How to reach the Hotel Orion from San Marco Giardinetti:

Hotel Orion map directions

  1. As you leave the Alilaguna airport-boat platform, turn right and walk along the water. (Souvenir kiosks and a small public garden will be on your left.) You'll cross a low metal ramp over a canal.

  2. At the Piazzetta (a large open space with two stone columns), turn left and walk into the Piazza San Marco.

  3. Walk toward the Basilica di San Marco and look for the Calle San Basso, which is on the northeastern side of the Piazza San Marco near the carved stone lions by the basilica.

  4. Walk one short block on the Calle San Basso, bear right into the Calle Larga San Marco, and immediately turn left onto the Calle Spadaria.

  5. The Hotel Orion will be just ahead on the Calle Spadaria. Look for the hanging sign above the entrance.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take the Alilaguna Blue Line airport boat from the cruise basin to the San Marco Giardinetti waterbus stop.

  2. Follow the directions above.
