Campo Busolo o San Gallo photo

The three-star Hotel San Gallo is on a small and quiet square, the Campo Busolo o San Gallo, just above the Piazza San Marco. It's immediately next to Venice's Teatro San Gallo.

The hotel's location is perfect if you want to be in the center of things without being surrounded by mobs of daytrippers.

How to reach the Hotel San Gallo from San Marco Giardinetti:

Hotel San Gallo map directions

  1. As you leave the San Marco Giardinetti boat station, which is served by Alilaguna airport boats and local vaporetti, turn right and walk along the water. (Souvenir kiosks and a small public garden will be on your left.) You'll cross a low metal ramp over a canal.

  2. At the Piazzetta (a large open space with two stone columns), turn left and walk into the Piazza San Marco.

  3. Cross the Piazza San Marco to the arcades on the north side of the square. Go left under the arcades and look for a passageway with two arches.

  4. Walk through the passageway (named the Sotteportego del Cavaletto) and cross the small bridge into the Calle Cavaletto.

  5. Continue past the Best Western Albergo Cavaletto e Doge Orseolo to the Hotel San Gallo, which is on the right side of the campo or square.
