An Apartment in Venice
We stayed in this moderately-priced one-bedroom flat near the Campo Santa Maria Formosa a few years ago. (This article is accompanied by a photo tour of the apartment.)

Palazzo Albrizzi Apartment
Live like an upper-class Venetian family in a 6-bedroom, 4-bath flat on the piano nobile of a palace near the Campo San Polo. (The apartment has been owned by the same family since 1650.)

@Home (Mitwohnzentrale)
Let Helga Gross and her staff a put you in a furnished apartment during your stay in Venice. See article.

A Home Away From Home
Our Europe for Visitors article on vacation rentals describes the advantages of living like a local for a week or two. It includes pictures of a three-bedroom apartment that our family rented through Helga Gross of @Home (Midwohnzentrale).
Rent either of two apartments in Cannaregio, or consider booking both if you're traveling with relatives or friends. Amenities include a library of English-language books, a folder of touring tips, and rubber Wellies for the acqua alta season. (The owners are British, and you can pay in pounds or any other major currency.)

Campo S. Barnaba Apartment
Antonio Ruzzene's comfortable one-bedroom, two-story house just off the Campo S. Barnaba is handy to the Campo Santa Margherita, Accademia, and ship-watching on the Zattere. It's also within walking distance of the railroad station, the airport bus at the Piazzale Roma, and Alilaguna's Zattere airport-boat stop.

La Rosa di Venezia
"The Rose of Venice" is 200 meters from the Bridge of Sighs and within a short walk of the airport boat landing. The 2- to 3-person apartment is air-conditioned, has a small balcony overlooking a canal, and is available by the day or week.

Living Venice
You can rent this two-bedroom apartment in Dorsoduro for periods as short as three days. One side faces a corte, while the other looks out on a canal.

Our Flats in Venice
These three flats are located on Giudecca, an island that's one minute from Dorsorduro and five minutes from the Piazza San Marco by vaporetto. Elton John lives nearby.

Palazzetto da Schio
No prices are given, but count on upmarket rates, since the palazzetto's five apartments are furnished with antiques from the 17th and 18th Centuries.

Venice Booky
Traveling in a group? Venice Booky offers a cluster of six apartments that can accommodate up to 22 people in one location. Other rentals are scattered throughout the city.
A reader from Middlesex, England recommends these "gorgeous but reasonable" garden apartments near the Biennale, which are within easy walking distance of the Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale airport boat stop. (You can even bring your pets.) Note: The apartments didn't have Internet access the last time we checked, but you can read your e-mail with the owner's computer.

Choose from three apartments in Dorsoduro that sleep 5 to 10 guests each. You can book by the night or week, with rates based on the number of people in your family or group.
