La Rosa di Venezia
"The Rose of Venice" is 200 meters from the Bridge of Sighs and within a short walk of the airport boat landing. The 2- to 3-person apartment is air-conditioned, has a small balcony overlooking a canal, and is available by the day or week.

Living Venice
You can rent this two-bedroom apartment in Dorsoduro for periods as short as three days. One side faces a corte, while the other looks out on a canal.

Our Flats in Venice
These three flats are located on Giudecca, an island that's one minute from Dorsorduro and five minutes from the Piazza San Marco by vaporetto. Elton John lives nearby.

Palazzetto da Schio
No prices are given, but count on upmarket rates, since the palazzetto's five apartments are furnished with antiques from the 17th and 18th Centuries.

Venice Booky
Traveling in a group? Venice Booky offers a cluster of six apartments that can accommodate up to 22 people in one location. Other rentals are scattered throughout the city.

Venicenice.com
A reader from Middlesex, England recommends these "gorgeous but reasonable" garden apartments near the Biennale, which are within easy walking distance of the Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale airport boat stop. (You can even bring your pets.) Note: The apartments didn't have Internet access the last time we checked, but you can read your e-mail with the owner's computer.

WeNiceVenice
Choose from three apartments in Dorsoduro that sleep 5 to 10 guests each. You can book by the night or week, with rates based on the number of people in your family or group. (The owner-manager, Carlo Pescatori, also teaches Italian conversation lessons via Skype.)
