The breakfast buffet at the Hotel Fürstenhof in Leipzig, Germany offers a good test of the LX3's ability to capture colors and detail.

When the 10-MP image is viewed at full size, the dishes and forks in the foreground (which the camera focused on) are noticeably sharper than the objects in the background, which shows that the LX3 is able to control depth of field even at the widest zoom setting. Most pocket-sized cameras can't do this.
