Glengarriff Nature Reserve

from Walking in Ireland

photo

A rocky trail with stone steps will take you to Lady Bantry's Lookout, which offers good views of the village and region. The lady in question was the wife of an Earl of Bantry. She was confined to a wheelchair in her later years, and teams of muscular Irishmen would carry her up the steep hill for picnics.
