 "Where can I store baggage?"

Venice's Santa Lucia Railway Station has a baggage office (deposito bagagli) in a passage between the main long-distance train shed (tracks 1-14) and the local commuter-train platforms (tracks 15-23).

If you're coming off a train on track 1-14, the passage will be to your right as you approach the station building. Look for the baggage-icon sign; the doors to the baggage office are underneath.

The baggage office was open from 6 a.m. to midnight the last time I checked, but opening hours can change, so look at the sign on the door before you deposit your bags.

Storage rates depend on how long you leave your bags: When I last checked, the cost was €3,80 for the first 5 hours, €0,60 for each additional hour up to 12 hours, and €0,20 for each additional hour after that. The baggage office won't accept glass, and shoes or towels must be inside your bag.

Tip:

• If you use the toilets on the opposite side of the station, you'll notice luggage lockers nearby. These are no longer in use for security reasons. The deposito bagagli office is the only place to store luggage at Santa Lucia Station.
