Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

"How do I contact the police or the lost-and-found office?"

Venice's Santa Lucia station isn't a hotbed of crime, but watch out for pickpockets. If you're a crime victim, look for the "Polizia Ferroviaria" office in the open corridor alongside Track 1, just beyond the public toilets. (You'll need to file a crime report if you want reimbursement from your insurance company back home.)

If you've misplaced an item on a train or in the station, you can search the Italian State Railways catalog of found items (at least when the database is working--service was suspended when I last checked, but give it a try). Alternatively, you can visit the Ufficio Oggetti Rinvenuti next to track 14 or telephone +39 041-785-238 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
